Jimmie Johnson has had an illustrious career. Seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, 83-career wins. At the end of 2020, Johnson will walk away from the sport, in a full-time capacity at least. To honor their teammate, Chase Elliott, William Byron and Alex Bowman will run special paint schemes from Johnson’s career in the upcoming Darlington Raceway Southern 500 Throwback Weekend.

Alex Bowman will run Johnson’s iconic Lowe’s paint scheme from the 2006 NASCAR Cup Series season, this is the year that Johnson captured his first-career NASCAR Cup Series title.

Johnson scored five wins in 2006 en route to the title.

Chase Elliott will rewind the clock to 2009 with his No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro. This scheme, Johnson won his fourth-consecutive NASCAR Cup Series title with, which was a record for consecutive titles until Johnson broke his own mark with five the following season.

Johnson scored an impressive seven wins during that 2009 season.

William Byron will be reliving Johnson’s 2013 NASCAR All-Star Race Win with his red, white and blue scheme. Johnson took the checkered flag in that race, which marked his fourth All-Star Race win, which is the most all-time.
