Some would say, this may be Stanton Barrett’s most daring stunt yet…

Stanton Barrett will make his return to the NASCAR Cup Series in Sunday’s Go Bowling 235 at Daytona International Speedway’s Road Course, when he pilots the No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro for Spire Motorsports.

The 47-year old – who is known for being a stunt double and stunt coordinator in many Holly films such as : The Dukes of Hazzard, Jurassic Park 2 and 3, Batman, Blade and many more — will make his 25th career start in the NASCAR Cup Series, and his first in over a year.

Barrett’s last NASCAR Cup Series attempt, resulted in a 35th-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway last spring, driving the No. 52 for Rick Ware Racing. In 229 starts across NASCAR’s National Series, Barrett has a career-best finish of 5th, coming in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1996.

The Bishop, California-native will make his second road course start at NASCAR’s top-level, and will look to improve upon his career-best NASCAR Cup Series finish of 30th on Sunday.

Reed Sorenson – who was initially on the entry list in the No. 77 for Spire Motorsports — is not currently scheduled to participate in any events this weekend at Daytona’s Road Course.
