Chase Elliott won three races in 2019, but ultimately fell short of his ultimate goal — the NASCAR Cup Series championship.

However, Elliott got a great consolation prize Thursday at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Awards Banquet — he was voted Most Popular Driver for the second-consecutive season.

For Elliott, the Most Popular Driver Award is more than just a trinket to put on his mantle.

“I’m honored to have two. Last year, I was honored to have one,” Elliott said. You try to learn things here and there. And as I have told several people, it is really more than a trophy or an award, it is about the people at the racetrack. Some of them are hear tonight and I really enjoy seeing them wear your hat or t-shirt.”

For the second-straight year, Kyle Busch was runner-up to Elliott.

Matt DiBenedetto, Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan Blaney rounded out the top-five in voting for MPD.
