When we last saw Brendan Gaughan, he was flying through the air at Talladega Superspeedway in Beard Oil Racing’s No. 62 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. This week, he makes headlines for more positive reasons. Gaughan took the Class 1 victory in the 2019 Baja 1000 and finished 27th overall of 264 entries.

The Baja 1000 is a historic grueling off-road racing event that takes place over 1,000 miles in the Mexico desert every year. This edition was the 52nd-annual running of the race.

Gaughan was behind the wheel of his team’s No. 162 machine at the end of the event. Overall, the four man team finished the race in 20 hours, 57 minutes and 38 seconds.

Gaughan’s teammates were: RJ Anderson, Jake Gaughan and Buddy Feldkamp.

However, Gaughan was not the only NASCAR name in the 2019 Baja 1000 race.

Casey Mears finished 12th in the SCORE Trophy Truck class and 28th overall in the event and Robby Gordon and his No. 77 team also finished 67th overall in the event.
