Well, that’s not something you see every day. And something you definitely didn’t expect to see with teams only having to worry about one lug nut per tire, but on lap 40 of Sunday’s Daytona 500, Kaz Grala lost a wheel on his No. 50 The Money Team Racing machine.

Grala’s issue popped up just after a green flag pit sequence, and ironically happened at the same time that Austin Cindric sent Chase Briscoe spinning from a bump draft, which brought out a caution.

The penalty for losing a wheel on track is a four race suspension for the crew chief of a race team, in this case Tony Eury Jr., and two crew members. If there are any penalties from this incident, NASCAR will announce them next week.
