TobyChristie.com’s coverage of Friday Night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season-finale at Phoenix Raceway is brought to you by Lucas Oil, the proud sponsor of the Lucas Oil 150.

This has to feel like a gut-punch for John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports team. After being the dominant team all season long and scoring five wins, Nemechek’s championship hopes are on life support inside the first 10 laps of the race.

On the initial start of the race, Nemechek suffered damage to the left side of his truck and slid up the track and scrubbed the outside wall.

Just a couple of laps later, Nemechek had a left front tire go down.

Nemechek would have to get to pit road for a new tire and for the team to tug on the front fender. In the process, Nemechek lost two laps under this sequence of events. Nemechek now sits 35th in the running order, while the other three Championship 4 contenders sit inside the top-11.
