Santino Ferrucci, a part-time driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, will see his bid to run a second Chili Bowl Nationals come to an early conclusion, after a vicious tumble in hot laps prior to Friday’s preliminary action.

The 23-year-old was running in close proximity to another car, when his Dave Mac Dalby Motorsports entry got launched into the air, taking a massive tumble entering turn three, which included multiple significant impacts with the dirt.

Following the massive shunt, Ferrucci was brought to a local hospital, where he would later be released and diagnosed with a concussion, according to Dave Mac Dalby Motorsports, ultimately ending the weekend for the driver from Woodbury, Connecticut.

Shortly after 9:30pm / ET, Ferrucci posted to his Twitter account, saying he had “only a minor concussion”
