When the NASCAR Cup Series takes the green flag for Sunday’s Verizon 200 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson will already be in search of his second major victory of the weekend.

Larson, who traveled from Indiana to Knoxville, Iowa following NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying on Saturday, put on a clinic in the 62nd Knoxville Nations, leading every single lap en route to the victory.

The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion was able to put an absolute butt-whooping on the field at the half-mile dirt track on Saturday, after earning the pole for the A-Main, by virtue of this week’s preliminary events.

After starting from 22nd-place, David Gravel was able to methodically climb his way through the pack for a runner-up result. Donny Schatz, a 13-time winner of the Knoxville Nationals, came home in third place. Gio Scelzi and Carson Macedo rounded out the top five.

Former NASCAR National Series competitors Brad Sweet and Rico Abreu finished in sixth and seventh place, while Buddy Kofoid, Kerry Maden, and Sheldon Haudenschild rounded out the top-10 finishers in a 24-entry field.

Now, with the Knoxville Nationals wrapping up at just after 1:00 AM ET, Larson will likely engage in some victory celebrations, before making the hike back to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he will take on the NASCAR Cup Series field in approximately 15 hours.

Driving the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, Larson will start Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event from the sixth position, as he looks to claim his third victory of the season.
