Corey Day Walks Away From Wild Tumble in Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway

Corey Day went for a wild flip with 42 laps remaining in the Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway

Corey Day went for one wild ride with 42 laps remaining in Saturday night’s Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway, part of the NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship.

The troubles occurred as Day was running in the runner-up spot to his mentor Kyle Larson, who weeks ago won his second NASCAR Cup Series championship. While trying to hold off Daison Pursley for the second position, Day’s right front tire clipped the left rear tire of a lapped car.

From there, he was along for the ride.

Into the air Day’s No. 4K machine went, and he would flip end-over-end four times before coming down hard onto the dirt surface.

Fortunately, Day, who will serve as the full-time driver of the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2026, was able to walk away, seemingly unscathed.
