William Byron scored the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) by 0.015 sec. over Ty Gibbs. This is the first pole of the season for Byron, and marks the 13th pole of his NASCAR Cup Series career.
Shane van Gisbergen, who won in his NASCAR Cup Series debut last season, will start from the 12th position in Sunday’s race in the No. 16 Kaulig Racing entry. As far as other road ringers in the field, AJ Allmendinger will start from 14th in the No. 13 Kaulig Chevrolet, and Kamui Kobayashi will start in the 25th spot in the No. 50 23XI Racing Toyota.
