NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 Race Results (Talladega)

Chase Briscoe and the entire No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry XSE team are headed to the Championship 4.

The Mitchell, Indiana-native went to Victory Lane in Sunday’s YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, after getting a stellar push from his teammate Ty Gibbs to get the Bass Pro Shops-sponsored machine into the race lead.

It’s the fifth victory in the NASCAR Cup Series for Chase Briscoe, three of which have come this season while behind the wheel of an entry from Joe Gibbs Racing.

The triumph ensures that Joe Gibbs Racing, which fields four entries in the NASCAR Cup Series, will have at least two of its drivers in the Championship 4, after Denny Hamlin won last weekend’s event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to put himself through to the Championship Race in Phoenix.

In the chaos of NASCAR Overtime at Talladega Superspeedway, Todd Gilliland secured a career-best second-place result in the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Front Row Motorsports. Ty Gibbs came home in third, with Bubba Wallace, and Haas Factory Team driver Cole Custer rounding out the top-five finishers.

Carson Hocevar recorded a solid sixth-place result in the No. 77 Modo Casino Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, with Tyler Reddick just behind in seventh. Christopher Bell was the second-highest finishing playoff driver in the event, bringing home an eighth-place finish.

Zane Smith and Brad Keselowski, both of whom found themselves in contention for the victory at some point during the final stage of Sunday’s event, rounded out the top-10 with finishes of ninth and tenth.

As for the rest of the drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, the results were a mixed bag; with Joey Logano finishing in 16th, Ryan Blaney a disappointing 23rd, Denny Hamlin in 24th, William Byron 25th, Kyle Larson 26th, and Chase Elliott 40th.

Elliott, driving the No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, was ruled out of the YellaWood 500 after just 51 laps, following a 10-car accident that involved AJ Allmendinger, Noah Gragson, Austin Cindric, and others.

Byron fell into a similar situation, albeit on the final lap of the event, when the No. 24 Raptor Chevrolet got turned around in the tri-oval. What would have been a top-five result for the Hendrick Motorsports driver ended up being a 25th-place finish.

Kyle Larson also had issues during the final NASCAR Overtime restart, despite coming to the green on the front row, running out of fuel and quickly falling out of the lead draft to finish 26th.

The NASCAR Cup Series will head to Martinsville Speedway for the penultimate event of the 2025 campaign, where the Championship 4 field will officially be determined.
