NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Race Starting Lineup (Phoenix)

Layne Riggs will be credited with the pole position for Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway, but the No. 34 Love’s RV Stops Ford F-150 won’t be leading the field to green.

Riggs, who is fighting for the Owner’s Championship with his Front Row Motorsports team, will have to serve a penalty courtesy of an inspection issue found before qualifying by NASCAR.

Chandler Smith, his teammate at Front Row Motorsports, will start from second place in his No. 38 QuickTie Ford F-150. It’s the second time that the organization has started 1-2 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, following a similar result earlier in the year at Darlington Raceway.

Brent Crews was ranked third quickest in qualifying, with his TRICON Garage teammate, Tanner Gray, sitting in fourth. Kaden Honeycutt was the furthest forward of the Championship 4 drivers in qualifying and will complete the top-five starters.

Corey Heim will get to challenge Honeycutt right from the jump, rolling from the sixth position, with Rajah Caruth in seventh, defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ty Majeski in eighth, Talladega race-winner Gio Ruggiero in ninth, and Ben Rhodes rounding out the top-10.

Tyler Ankrum was the only driver of the Championship 4 contenders that failed to qualify inside the top-10 for Friday’s event, and will start his No. 18 LiUNA! Chevrolet Silverado RST in a dismal 21st — the worst of his four teammates from McAnally-Hilgemann Racing.
