Blaine Perkins is out of his Our Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro after a major accident on the backstretch at Talladega, where he barrel-rolled at least six times.

Blaine Perkins is being transported to a local hospital out of “an abundance of caution”, after a horrible accident on the backstretch at Talladega Superspeedway, which saw his No. 02 Chevrolet Camaro take flight, and flip several times.

Perkins, who recently joined Our Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, was able to climb from the car under his own power and walk to the ambulance, with the assistance of the AMR Safety Team.

The accident first started when Dexter Stacey, driving the No. 66 Chevrolet Camaro for MBM Motorsports, spun down the backstretch and slammed the inside wall with significant force, at the point where the wall protrudes to allow safety workers to get on track.

When spinning, Stacey then made super-light contact with Perkins, sending his yellow and red machine spinning back in front of the snarling pack, where he was then clobbered by Jade Buford, sending the No. 02 into the air and upside down.

Perkins then barrel rolled at least six times down the back straightaway, tossing wheels, parts, and pieces everywhere, littering the majority of the backstretch with debris, which forces NASCAR officials to throw the red flag, for that, and some necessary surface repairs.

Dexter Stacey, who took a major impact to the inside wall, was checked and released from the infield care center, where he told FOX Sports 1 that there was no contact that forced him to spin, but rather him just getting loose of turn two.

Jade Buford, who sent the No. 02 into the air with major contact, is out of the race and has since been checked and released from the infield care center.

The accident took place at the conclusion of the second stage, which caused a stoppage prior to the start of the final 60-lap stint to the finish.

Additional updates on Blaine Perkins, who is being transported to a local hospital out of an abundance of caution, will be added to this story as update, when/should they become available.
