It doesn’t matter the track’s length, orientation, or location, Ty Gibbs has continued to prove that he’s fast, nabbing the pole for Saturday’s Pit Boss 250 at Circuit of The Americas.

The 19-year-old put down a blistering lap time of 134.520 seconds (91.258 mph) in the final seconds of the second round of qualifying on Friday, to pick up his second career pole position, and his first of 2022.

Ross Chastain, one of 11 drivers set to compete in multiple events this weekend at Circuit of The Americas, will start alongside Gibbs on the front row, driving the No. 92 TicketSmarter Chevrolet Camaro for DGM Racing.

The organization’s second-place result in Friday’s qualifying session is the best in the team’s tenure in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and only the third top-five start for the three-car operation.

Cole Custer, winner at Auto Club Speedway earlier this season, will start from third-place for SS Green Light Racing, with road course ace AJ Allmendinger starting in the fourth position.

Rounding out the top-five is another entry from DGM Racing, in the form of Quebec-native Alex Labbe, who will start inside the top-five at Circuit of The Americas for the second season in a row.

Sheldon Creed, Preston Pardus – another DGM Racing entry, Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, and Sam Mayer rounded out the 10 drivers who advanced to the final round of qualifying.

With 42 cars entered for Saturday’s Pit Boss 250 at COTA, four drivers and teams will have to make the early trip home from Austin, Texas.

Jesse Iwuji (No. 34), Brennan Poole (No. 47), Gar Robinson (No. 52), and Josh Williams (No. 78) all failed to post a time fast enough to make the field for Saturday’s 250-mile event.
