JD Motorsports has been finalizing its plans for the 2022 season, and a fan-favorite will return to the operation for the upcoming year.

Ryan Vargas, a fan-favorite driver thanks to his unique personality and social media skillset, will return to JD Motorsports full-time for the 2022 season, adding a second consecutive season of full-time competition in the series.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity to race for JD Motorsports again in a Full-Time capacity,” Vargas said Wednesday. “Johnny and his entire team have believed in me since day one and have become almost an extended family at this point, and I’m ready to hit the track and put everything I have into this campaign. I spent many years as a fan of this organization, watching the red cars fight against the big dogs, and I hope to bring that same excitement to the track and show the NASCAR fan base what this team is all about.”

Vargas is entering his third straight season competing in NASCAR’s second-highest series behind the wheel of a JD Motorsports entry. After putting together solid part-time runs, including an eighth-place finish at Texas in 2020, Vargas signed on his first full-time season of NASCAR Xfinity Series competition in 2021.

Last season, the California driver scored six top 20 finishes and recorded his first career laps lead at Talladega in the spring.

As far as sponsorship goes, Vargas has an impressive track record of seeking and obtaining his sponsors through old-school ways such as cold calling. Vargas has also utilized social media to help bring new sponsors into the sport over the past two seasons. Appropriate methods for a young driver with a firm grasp of using social media to further his career opportunities, with thousands of followers across all platforms, including TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram.

The team is seeking to add additional partners to his slate for 2022.

“Nothing about this business is easy; however, we have some amazing partners that I look forward to seeing return, and we are working around the clock to bring new ones to the fold,” Vargas said.

Additionally, the car number for Vargas will be confirmed at a later date.

The 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season begins in February for the Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. 300 at the Daytona International Speedway. Coverage starts at 5:00 p.m. EST on FOX Sports 1.
