Drama for Daniel Hemric, one of the four NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship 4 contenders in this weekend’s race at Phoenix Raceway.

According to a report from Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, Hemric’s No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team hauler, which was carrying his car for the championship race ran into an, “issue” in Texas.

The issue forced the team to remove the primary car from that hauler and move it into the JGR ARCA hauler.

Hemric’s car will arrive at the track on Friday afternoon, but it is possible that it doesn’t arrive in time for practice. NASCAR Xfinity Series practice is set to start at 3:05 PM local time (6:05 PM ET).

An attempt by TobyChristie.com to obtain a comment or further explanation from a Joe Gibbs Racing team representative has gone unanswered at this time.

Hemric, 30, may still be winless through 119-career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, but he has put together an incredibly consistent campaign in 2021.

The North Carolina-native has scored 14 top-five finishes and 20 top-10s through 32 starts this year, and he will battle against Noah Gragson, Austin Cindric and AJ Allmendinger for the championship on Saturday at Phoenix Raceway.

If Hemric is unable to practice his No. 18 car, yet the other three championship contenders do get to practice, it goes without saying that this stands to be a massive disadvantage for Hemric and his team.
