For the second time in the last three weeks, Justin Allgaier will lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to green, scoring the pole for Saturday’s Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Allgaier, who triumphed in the series’ most recent event at Bristol Motor Speedway, drove his No. 7 Reese’s Chevrolet Camaro to a time of 29.188 seconds (185.008mph) to score his third pole of the year, and the 10th of his Xfinity Series career.
Entering Texas, Allgaier is the only driver locked into the ‘Round of 8’ for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, and will look to use the premium starting position to gain additional NASCAR Playoff Points for a run at his first-ever championship.
Trevor Bayne laid down a stellar lap to qualify in second place with the No. 19 Interstate Batteries Toyota GR Supra, just 14 one-thousandths behind Allgaier, in what is scheduled to be his third and final start of the year with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Cole Custer will start Saturday’s race from third-place, with Josh Berry and Austin Hill completing the top five. Sam Mayer, Parker Kligerman, Brandon Jones, Chandler Smith, and Riley Herbst each qualified inside the top-10.
John Hunter Nemechek (11th), Daniel Hemric (13th), and Jeb Burton (28th) were the three NASCAR Xfinity Series post-season drivers that failed to qualify inside the top-10, and will have some work to do once the race gets underway.
Layne Riggs, making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in the No. 11 for Kaulig Racing, will start from 38th, after an incident on his third lap of practice which saw him lightly impact the inside wall, damaging his Infinity Communications Chevrolet.
Daniel Dye, driving the No. 44 for Alpha Prime Racing, was able to quality his way into the show for his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut, and will start in 26th, alongside Dawson Cram who got into the field once again for CHK Racing.
With 40 drivers entered for Saturday’s event in Texas, Garrett Smithley (#4 JD Motorsports) and Blaine Perkins (#02 Our Motorsports) failed to qualify for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race.
