Well, this comes as a bit of a surprise, but Harrison Burton will pilot the No. 17 David Gilliland Racing Ford F-150 in the upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Pinty’s Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The team made the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday and Burton will have sponsorship from Hunt Brothers Pizza.

No further details are available at this time, but more information will be added to this story when a press release becomes available.

Burton, 21, is in the middle of his rookie campaign in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving for the iconic Wood Brothers Racing team. Through the opening seven races of the 2022 season, Burton has scored three top-20 finishes, two of them coming in the last two races.

Logging extra laps on the Bristol dirt heading into the Cup Series race should definitely be an advantage for Burton.

Many expected Joey Logano to be the driver of the No. 17 truck for this event as Logano had previously announced he would run this event, but he hasn’t announced which team he’ll be running.

If Logano does indeed run it with DGR, it won’t be in the No. 17 truck.
