Ed Jones, a long-time veteran of the NTT IndyCar Series, will attempt to qualify for his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut later this month at Circuit of The Americas, the driver announced on Saturday.

Jones, who finished third in the 2017 Indianapolis 500 as a rookie, will join forces with Young’s Motorsports to pilot the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado in the first of two road course events for the series in 2023.

Competing in the NTT IndyCar Series from 2017 to 2019, and 2021, Jones was able to secure a career-best 13th-place points finish while piloting the No. 10 for Chip Ganassi Racing in 2018. In 63 IndyCar starts, Jones has recorded three finishes of third-place.

So far in 2023, Derek Kraus (Daytona) and Matt Mills (Las Vegas) have gotten behind the wheel of the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado, with Kraus’ 18th-place effort being the best for the entry thus far.

At Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Jones will be working with the organization’s two full-time drivers, Kris Wright, and Spencer Boyd, as teammates for his series debut.

A native of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Jones has one prior start in the NTT IndyCar Series at Circuit of The Americas, coming in 2019, when he earned a 14th-place result for Ed Carpenter Racing.
