Alpha Prime Racing has made its latest driver announcement for the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season as Leland Honeyman Jr. has officially joined the organization for select races this upcoming season.

According to a tweet from the team, Honeyman will drive the No. 45 entry for the organization.

For Alpha Prime, Honeyman impressed mightily in 2022, and they feel at the young age of 17 (turns 18 on February 23rd), the sky is the limit.

“What Leland was able to do in ARCA East last year was really impressive,” said APR President Tommy Joe Martins. “It’s even more impressive given his age. We see Leland as a young driver that can grow and develop with us not just this year but for years to come.”

Honeyman is excited about the gift of getting to compete for a growing organization like Alpha Prime Racing.

“I’m super excited to be a part of the Alpha Prime Racing roster in 2023,” Honeyman Jr. said. “It’s amazing to be stepping into one of the top levels of NASCAR and I’m truly grateful for this opportunity. I can’t thank Team Dillion Management, Tommy Joe and his team enough for believing in me. This is the opportunity of a lifetime and I’m ready to get to work and see where we can go together.”

No official schedule or sponsorship partners were announced in Alpha Prime Racing’s release on Friday, those announcements will come at a later date.

The North Carolina native made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut in 2022 with a 29th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway driving for Young’s Motorsports.

Honeyman finished third in the ARCA Menards Series East point standings last season, as he scored three top-five finishes and five top-10s over the course of the seven-race season. The youngster also scored the pole at Five Flags Speedway, which was the second race of the season.

Honeyman also ran three ARCA Menards Series events, with a best fnish of sixth coming at Iowa Speedway.
