John Hunter Nemechek punted Sheldon Creed for the Stage 2 win at Portland, but Cole Custer ended up being the man who won the Stage.

Wow! What a wild finish to Stage 2 of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway.

Sheldon Creed, who narrowly edged past John Hunter Nemechek on the final lap of Stage 1 to score the Stage 1 win, looked to have a wire-to-wire win of Stage 2 in the bag.

Then on the final lap of the Stage, John Hunter Nemechek flat-out ran through Creed, and spun him from the lead.

While it looked like Nemechek had stolen the Stage 2 win, the loss of momentum from spinning Creed actually allowed Cole Custer to get a run on Nemechek and Custer would go on to narrowly sneak out the Stage win.

Here is a video of the finish of Stage 2:

After the incident on the final lap, things got very heated on Creed’s team radio.

Creed said, “John Hunter, man.”

To which one of his team members responded with, “Yeah, he’s a fucking asshole and always drives like that.”

Creed fired back, “We’re destroying his car when we get back to him.”

Oh my.

While Creed was obviously upset about being dumped for the Stage 2 win, Nemechek told his team that he felt Creed came down on him, and that he didn’t intend to turn Creed.

Whether he meant to turn Creed or not, he did, and now Creed may get his revenge in the final Stage of the race.
