Watkins Glen big crash NASCAR Xfinity Series 2023 Justin Allgaier Cole Custer
A big crash erupted in the closing laps of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen. Sam Mayer got tapped by Ty Gibbs, which bogged down the field. Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer would make contact, which would spark the 11-car crash.

The Big One: Watkins Glen Edition?

On the Lap 79 restart of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Shriners Children’s 200 at The Glen, things got a bit wild.

At the front of the field, Ty Gibbs had taken the lead from Sam Mayer, but Mayer was applying all sorts of pressure on Gibbs for the race lead. As the two came out of Turn 1, they were side-by-side for the lead.

However, Gibbs would make contact with Mayer in the esses, which would send Mayer into the guardrail slightly. That would bog the field down behind Mayer, and a stack-up would ensue.

Coming out of the bus stop, Cole Custer and Justin Allgaier would make contact, which would send Allgaier spinning in front of the field. By the time the smoke settled, 11 cars had been involved in the melee.

Here is a video of the wild crash:

In addition to Allgaier and Custer, Josh Berry, Brandon Jones, Alex Bowman, Sammy Smith, John Hunter Nemechek, Connor Mosack, Kaz Grala, Jeb Burton and Parker Kligerman were involved.
