For the second consecutive weekend, Joe Gibbs Racing and Ty Gibbs have asserted themselves as the fastest team in town, capturing the pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Toyota Care 250 at Richmond Raceway.

The 20-year-old, who led the series’ 20-minute practice session on Saturday morning, backed it up with a substantial lap in single-car qualifying, posting a time of 22.161 seconds (121.836 mph) to claim his third career pole.

John Hunter Nemechek, a teammate to Gibbs, will start on the front row alongside the No. 54 Toyota GR Supra, after posting the second-quickest lap time early on in the session.

Noah Gragson, Austin Hill, and Brandon Jones rounded out the top-five qualifiers for Saturday’s 250-lap event at the 0.75-mile facility.

Ryan Preece, piloting the No. 5 Ford Mustang from BJ McLeod Motorsports, will start in sixth place, with Jeremy Clements, Ryan Sieg, AJ Allmendinger, and Parker Retzlaff rounding out the top-10.

Retzlaff, scheduled to make 10 appearances in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for RSS Racing in 2022, secured his second top-10 start in as many attempts, backing up a sixth-place qualifying effort from Phoenix, with a 10th-place start at Richmond.

Harrison Rhodes (Jimmy Means Racing), Dillon Bassett (Bassett Racing), Howie DiSavino III (Alpha Prime Racing), Matt Mills (BJ McLeod Motorsports) failed to qualify for Saturday’s 250-lap event.
