Friday night’s NASCAR Xfinity Series WaWa 250 at Daytona International Speedway will get off to a rough start for Joe Gibbs Racing’s Riley Herbst. Herbst has lost his car chief for the weekend, he’ll drop to the rear (was supposed to start 10th) and he’ll have to serve a pass-thru penalty on the initial start of the race.

Herbst’s No. 18 Toyota Supra had an improperly mounted ballast and failed pre-race inspection three times.

The rookie of the year contender comes into Friday’s race 10th in the championship standings. Herbst has scored two top-five finishes and 12 top-10s in 21 starts this year.
