For the first time since 2009, Road America will not have a position on any of NASCAR’s National Series schedules in 2024, according to a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which says season ticketholders were informed of this change over the weekend.

The 4.048-mile road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin has played host to the NASCAR Xfinity Series annually since 2010, and in that timeframe also hosted a pair of NASCAR Cup Series events in 2021 and 2022.

Now, just two years after NASCAR’s decision to remove Road America from the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the Xfinity Series will also be absent from the venue. However, the report states that this may just be a short-term loss for the facility.

With NASCAR still working to assemble its schedules for the 2024 season, one of the major hurdles has been NBC’s coverage of the Olympics, July 26 to August 11, which is said to be creating a three-week span with fewer opportunities for NASCAR and IndyCar coverage.

“So, it’s possible 2024 will be a one-year hiatus for NASCAR at Road America,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report states. According to the track’s tentative schedule, IndyCar is scheduled to compete at Road America in June.

Sam Mayer, a native of Franklin, Wisconsin, is the latest winner of the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Road America, which has featured 14 different winners throughout its first 14 events, including surprises like Nelson Piquet, Jr. and Jeremy Clements.

At this time, NASCAR nor Road America have confirmed or denied the report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, but an official confirmation is expected to be made with the release of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule.
