Well, Mother Nature is now two-for-two in altering NASCAR’s weekend schedule.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Daytona International Speedway, scheduled to be run on Saturday, has been postponed to Monday, February 19 at 11:00 AM ET, after precipitation has hassled the 2.5-mile superspeedway throughout much of the afternoon.

FOX Sports 1 (FS1) will be carrying live coverage of the Xfinity Series season-opener on Monday at 11:00 AM, as will the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

The postponement of the United Rentals 300 at Daytona means that two of the five events scheduled to run during Daytona Speedweeks have seen major timing shifts, after the ARCA Menards Series event — also scheduled to run on Saturday — was moved to Friday after the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event, in anticipation of poor weather.

When the NASCAR Xfinity Series field lines up for their 300-mile contest on Monday, Jesse Love will be leading the field to the green — while also making his first laps in the second-tier series in a race situation.

Luckily, earlier in the morning, the inclement weather held off long enough for the Xfinity Series to have single-vehicle qualifying, in which Richard Childress Racing teammates Jesse Love and Austin Hill swept the front row.

AJ Allmendinger, returning to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2024, will start in third place, while Parker Kligerman and newly ordained NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie Shane van Gisbergen complete the top five. Justin Allgaier, Jeremy Clements, John Hunter Nemechek, Parker Retzlaff, and Anthony Alfredo rounded out the top-10.

Until then, the NASCAR Cup Series field is hoping to complete its biggest race of the season on Sunday, with the running of the 2024 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway — of course, that’s weather permitting.
