After inclement weather has lingered in the Daytona Beach, Florida area for much of the morning on Monday, NASCAR has decided to adjust the schedule of events for the Monday double-header at Daytona International Speedway.

As a result, the 2024 United Rentals 300, the season-opener for the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, has been pushed to later in the evening, after running the 66th Daytona 500.

On Saturday, NASCAR decided to postpone the NASCAR Xfinity Series season-opener until Monday, with the forecast looking unideal for racing on Sunday. Before Monday’s rain showers, the event was scheduled to kick off at 11:00 AM ET.

Sunday’s conditions at Daytona International Speedway proved to be even worse, with NASCAR making the call to postpone the 2024 Daytona 500 until Monday, as well, with the prestigious event running after the conclusion of the Xfinity Series event at 4:00 PM ET.

With the schedule change, the Daytona 500 will be contested first, weather permitting, at 4:00 PM ET, remaining on FOX, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio as originally scheduled.

Then, after the conclusion of the 500-mile contest at Daytona, the NASCAR Xfinity Series will take to the track for their 300-mile contest, making for an afternoon filled with 800 miles of racing, or maybe more depending on overtime.

Anthony Alfredo, Daniel Suarez, and John Hunter Nemechek are the three drivers scheduled to compete in both events. Barring any last-minute changes, each of those three drivers will continue to contest both events, without issue.

When the NASCAR Cup Series event at Daytona International Speedway commences, Joey Logano and Michael McDowell will be leading the field to green, with Duel winners Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell in the second row.

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series event later that evening, Jesse Love and Richard Childress Racing teammate Austin Hill will be leading the field to green. AJ Allmendinger, Parker Kligerman, and Shane van Gisbergen will round out the top five starters.
