NASCAR issued an update to the entry list for this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Alsco Uniforms 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Wednesday morning. According to the update, Kyle Weatherman will make his first start of the 2023 season, as he’ll pilot the No. 02 Our Motorsports entry.

TobyChristie.com was able to obtain confirmation of the change from Weatherman.

Weatherman, 25, impressed mightily in a part-time role with Jesse Iwuji Motorsports during the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

After scoring a top-10 finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway to cap off a five-race run at DGM Racing to start the season, Weatherman moved to the Iwuji team, where he ran a total of 18 races.

In that 18-race stretch, Weatherman had an eighth-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, four top-15s and a total of 10 top-20s.

On the original preliminary entry list shared by NASCAR on Monday, David Starr, who had driven the No. 02 Chevrolet Camaro in the opening two races of the 2023 season, was listed as the driver for Our Motorsports.

A representative for Starr says the racer not running for Our Motorsports at Las Vegas was a business decision and that Starr is currently looking forward to his next opportunity behind the wheel.

“This was strictly a business decision and David is still very much associated with and supporting the team,” the representative stated. “David would like to add that we have a lot of really great partners, but we just don’t have the funding that he needs to compete at the level he wants to compete at. David’s desire to compete and race at the NASCAR level is still very much alive after 25 years in the sport and he is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of an Xfinity race car sometime soon.”

It is worth noting that when Starr was originally announced as the driver of the No. 02 Chevrolet Camaro for Our Motorsports that the announcement only stated Starr would be the driver for the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.

In addition to Daytona, Starr ran for the team this past weekend at Auto Club Speedway. The 55-year-old racer finished 22nd at Daytona and 35th at Auto Club Speedway.
