It took everything that he had, but 36-year-old Kyle Busch has now claimed his 100th NASCAR Xfinity Series victory, taking the victory in Saturday Afternoon’s Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville Superspeedway.
Holding off multiple hard charges on restarts from Justin Allgaier, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver was able to scurry away from the pack in NASCAR overtime, after a series of late-race restarts was triggered by a cut tire by Brandon Brown’s No. 68 on Lap 142.
Justin Allgaier was able to come home in the runner-up position, with Harrison Burton finishing in third. In his final event for JR Motorsports this season, Josh Berry came home in fourth-place, after a late-race pit road penalty. AJ Allmendinger rounded out the top-five. Brandon Jones, Jeb Burton, Noah Gragson, Austin Hill and Riley Herbst rounded out the top-10 finishers.
The pace of the event was slowed dramatically in the second-half of the event, with five cautions falling in the last 47 laps. Austin Cindric, Michael Annett, and Daniel Hemric were involved in the biggest accident of the race, when the battle for the lead got intense and sent Hemric into the outside wall and Annett spinning into the grass, who then collected Cindric, who took a wallop into the outside wall.
Exiting Nashville Superspeedway, Austin Cindric continues to lead the point standings by 90 markers over AJ Allmendinger. Daniel Hemric, Harrison Burton and Justin Allgaier round out the top-five in points. Jeremy Clements currently holds the final playoff spot over Brandon Brown by 48 points, with Riley Herbst 50 points behind the bubble.
