Justin Allgaier channeled his inner Dale Earnhardt on the final restart of Saturday’s Steakhouse Elite 200 at Darlington Raceway, holding back teammates Josh Berry and Noah Gragson for his 16th victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The 34-year-old took the lead of the event for the first-time with 11 laps to go, taking control of the race and scoring his second victory of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

Josh Berry – who exits Darlington with four races remaining on his schedule for the year — finished in second, scoring the 11th one-two finish for JR Motorsports in the organization’s history. Brandon Jones finished third, with Noah Gragson and Daniel Hemric rounding out the top-five.

After leading 34 laps early in the event, points leader Austin Cindric was relegated to a 30th-place finish, after an accident on the final lap of the race, which also appeared to involve Colby Howard.

Jeremy Clements, Michael Annett, Brett Moffitt, Ryan Sieg and Alex Labbe rounded out the race’s top-10 finishers.

Exiting Darlington, Austin Cindric continues to lead the points by 39 points over Daniel Hemric, with Harrison Burton, AJ Allmendinger and Jeb Burton rounding out the top-five spots in the standings. Michael Annett currently holds the final spot in the series’ playoffs by six points over Brandon Brown and 25 points over Riley Herbst.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Dover International Speedway next weekend for the Drydene 200, the tenth race of the series’ 2021 campaign.
