David Starr announced via Twitter Monday Afternoon, that he would no longer be driving the No. 6 Chevrolet Camaro for Johnny Davis Motorsports, effective immediately.

Starr, the 52-year old from Houston Texas, drove the No. 6 JD Motorsports Chevrolet for the first four races of the 2020 season. Starr previously drove for Jimmy Means Racing in 2018 and 2019.

“As y’all know we have some of the most amazing sponsors! But like many others during this worldwide pandemic some of our small business partners are struggling financially. They are working tirelessly to keep their people employed and their businesses afloat.” Starr said Monday Afternoon on Twitter.

“The at-the-track live NASCAR experience of the partnership that most of our sponsors look forward to are not available and that has caused many to want to delay until sponsors and fans are allowed back at the track.”

“David Starr Racing is working to form new sponsorship relationships in addition to the wonderful ones we already have! We are not alone, but united during these difficult times. I thank y’all for your endless love and support!”

David Starr will not participate in Tuesday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at Darlington Raceway (originally scheduled to drive No. 6 for JD Motorsports, but B.J. McLeod will pilot the No. 6 on Tuesday.)

In 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Starr has accumulated on top-five finish and three top-tens, with a best finish of fifth at Daytona in 2017. Starr has visited victory lane on four occasions in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, most recently at Martinsville in 2006.
