Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen will continue to serve as teammates in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2026, both continuing in their current roles with Trackhouse Racing. However, they’ll also be teammates in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
On Tuesday, JR Motorsports confirmed that both Chastain and Van Gisbergen will return to the organization to run select events in the second-tier division for 2026, piloting the No. 9 Chevrolet — a fifth entry for the championship-winning team.
Neither driver had their race schedule or sponsorship confirmed for the part-time efforts.

Chastain is a veteran of nearly 600 starts in NASCAR’s National Series, but is currently competing in the NASCAR Cup Series for Trackhouse Racing. The 32-year-old driver joined JRM for a five-race schedule in 2024, collecting three top-fives in the process.
The native of Alva, Florida, is a two-time race-winner in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, but hasn’t been to Victory Lane since his time driving a partial schedule with Kaulig Racing in 2019.
Since joining forces with Trackhouse Racing to drive the No. 1 Chevrolet beginning in 2022, Chastain has been to Victory Lane in the NASCAR Cup Series six times, most recently winning the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day Weekend.
Van Gisbergen, driver of the No. 88 Trackhouse Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series, is a three-time champion of the Repco Supercars Championship in Australia, and in the last couple of years has stormed onto the NASCAR scene.
The Auckland, New Zealand-native is a six-time winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, including five victories on road courses this season, and a four-time winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
This season, Van Gisbergen has run a three-race schedule in what will be the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, winning at the Chicago Street Course, finishing second to Connor Zilisch at Sonoma, and crashing late in the race at Watkins Glen.
Both Chastain and Van Gisbergen were an important part of the success that the JR Motorsports No. 9 Chevrolet had in 2025, an entry that showed up at the racetrack 10 times between four drivers — with Daniel Suarez and Connor Mosack each piloting the entry once, in addition to Chastain and Van Gisbergen.
Chastain and Van Gisbergen are set to join what is shaping up to be an all-star lineup at JR Motorsports in 2025, with Connor Zilisch and Carson Kvapil sharing the No. 1 Chevrolet, Rajah Caruth getting the nod to run part-time in the No. 88 Chevrolet, and both Justin Allgaier and Sammy Smith competing for a NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series title in 2026.
