As the NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to the Daytona International Speedway road course to turn right and left in the UNOH 180, Sam Hunt Racing will look to continue their recent string of momentum with Brandon Gdovic behind the wheel. Gdovic, who will have sponsorship from WindStax Energy on the No. 26 machine, is chomping at the bit to get back to work this weekend.

“I’m happy to be back driving for Sam again this weekend and excited for the unique challenge of going into this race with no practice,” Gdovic stated in a team release. “Luckily, I have the advantage of having raced multiple times on the Daytona road course. Hopefully we can carry the momentum from Indy into this weekend’s race.”

That 28-year old driver’s previous Daytona Road Course experience should pay dividends this weekend as NASCAR will not allow testing or practice before teams hit the track for Saturday’s race.

The No. 26 team has finished 16th-or-better in their last four starts, including their season-best finish of 12th with Gdovic behind the wheel at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course back in July. Colin Garrett scored 14th-place and 16th-place finishes at Homestead and Kansas.

While Gdovic is a young and talented road racer, his team owner, 27-year old, Sam Hunt is really building a formidable NASCAR Xfinity Series team in year one.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity we have this weekend in Daytona,” said Hunt. “Brandon is no stranger to success and has shown he can maximize equipment with his ability behind the wheel, as well as help continue to strengthen our young team.”

Keep an eye out for the No. 26 team this weekend as they have a very realistic shot of scoring their first-ever top-10 finish in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition.
