Wawa 250: Daytona NASCAR Xfinity DFS and Betting Picks

It’s ‘Tona time. Welcome to Daytona Beach, Florida, and welcome to Garage Guys Fantasy Sports on TobyChristie.com. The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns for the Wawa 250 at Daytona International Speedway under the lights on Friday night.

Daytona brings one of the more stressful but exhilarating betting opportunities of the year with the chaotic style of racing. It absolutely embodies the Big Money or Go Home mentality.

Fear not; Dale Tanhardt, The Greatest NASCAR Bettor in the Universe, is here to bring you the “Big Money” part only for this Friday night. Let’s go over some nuggets before we get into the picks.

Kaulig Racing is continuing its worldwide takeover as AJ Allmendinger piloted the #16 into Victory Lane at Michigan for the third time this season. It’s only fitting that we now arrive at Daytona where Kaulig continuously emerges as the fleet to beat.

In addition to their dominant success at Talladega, Kaulig has won two of the last four races at Daytona. Justin Haley is arguably the best restrictor-plate racer in the field with three wins (two at Talladega, one at Daytona) dating back to 2020. He is one of the four co-favorites to win on Friday via DraftKings Sportsbook (+800), but is winless on the season.

Harrison Burton (+1200) has three consecutive Top 5 finishes at Daytona dating back to 2020. After winning four races last season, Burton heads into this weekend surprisingly without a win. I expect Burton to be very hungry and aggressive throughout the night.

Noah Gragson (+1000) sways in the same boat as Burton and Haley. No wins and a surplus of bad luck throughout the season. Fortunately for Noah, his team is on a solid roll with three Top 5’s and four Top 10’s in his last five races. Gragson is also a former Daytona winner and is who I believe will lead the charge for the JR Motorsports fleet this weekend.

Let’s get right into it.

NASCAR DFS Xfinity Picks For DraftKings

Justin Haley: #11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet – $8,600

Haley being priced this low is a travesty. As we talked about earlier, this guy is arguably the greatest plate-racer in the field. He’s also starting P9.

Except for that one moment in this race last year (I lost my retirement fund because of it), where Chastain and Allmendinger crashed each other on the last turn of the race, Kaulig’s teamwork has been outstanding over the years.

In addition to Haley’s tremendous skill in this style of racing, I could definitely see the Kaulig fleet driving an organized race trying to get Haley back to Victory Lane. Book Haley as a top play.

Joe Graf Jr.: #07 Green Light Racing Chevrolet- $6,100

Graf starts P39. Place-differential potential is off the charts.

Honestly, that’s the biggest influence here in addition to his price. He finished 11th at Daytona in the season opener and I’m willing to take a risk on him.

Hopefully Bobby Dotter won’t put a Dodge Durango engine in the #07 Chevy, and the car doesn’t experience a mechanical failure. I do believe that the equipment here is much better than many of the other drivers in his price bracket.

If Joe keeps it clean, I think he runs Top 20. If that happens, he becomes a super valuable punt play in your DFS lineups.

Jeb Burton: #10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet – $9,400

Jeb is the defending Talladega winner and finished 4th at Daytona earlier this year. He rolls off from P13 and will be driving one of the faster cars in the field.

I think Jeb will be low-owned because his price is somewhat high. He has decent place-differential possibility, and with Kaulig’s historic restrictor plate dominance, I think Jeb will be in the mix all night on Friday.

Harrison Burton: #20 JGR Toyota- $8,000

Anybody starting up front will always scare people away at a track like Daytona. Burton starts 5th, and as I stated earlier, has accumulated three consecutive Top 5 finishes at ‘Tona. I think he will be aggressive and lead laps early and throughout.

I really like Harrison as one of my favorites to win this race. I think, like Jeb, he will be low-owned and can be a massive difference-maker if he racks up another Top 5. Harrison is a bigger risk, but you gotta take risks to bag some cash in these chaotic races.
