WHAT. A. FINISH.

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Kasey Kahne had an incredible battle for the victory in the ninth and final heat in Friday Night’s prelim action for the 2022 Chili Bowl Nationals, resulting in the week’s closest finish, with Stenhouse claiming the win by 0.003 seconds.

The Olive Branch, Mississippi-native started the eight-lap event from eighth-place but was able to maneuver his way through the pack quickly, to put himself in a prime position to pounce on Kasey Kahne, who led the majority of the heat.

However, it wasn’t until the final corner of the final lap that Stenhouse was able to make his move on Kahne, using the bottom side to launch his No. 47 off of turn four to capture the win in a photo finish.

As a result of the incredible climb through the pack, Stenhouse earned the title of high-point man on Friday Night, collecting an incredible 135 passing points.
