Ty Majeski is starting his tenure as the driver of the No. 88 Menards Ford F-150 with a bang, winning the pole position for Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.

The Seymour, Wisconsin-native collected his 12th career pole in the NASCAR Truck Series on Friday afternoon, posting a lap time of 50.881 seconds (176.883mph) to earn his third career pole at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

It’s the first pole position for ThorSport Racing’s No. 88 since Talladega Superspeedway in October 2019.

After pacing the opening round of qualifying, the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion was able to back up his speed in the final round, staying ahead of NASCAR Cup Series regular Michael McDowell, who qualified his No. 7 Tibbetts Lumber Chevrolet Silverado on the outside of the front row.

McDowell is making a one-off start in the NASCAR Truck Series this weekend as the Avondale, Arizona-native looks to become the 42nd driver to win a race in each of NASCAR’s National Series.

Tanner Gray will roll from the third position in his No. 15 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for TRICON Garage, with another NASCAR Cup Series regular, Carson Hocevar, starting from fourth. Grant Enfinger, driving for CR7 Motorsports, rounded out the top five.

Tyler Ankrum will roll from sixth in the No. 18 for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, with Kaden Honeycutt, the fastest driver in Wednesday’s practice session, in seventh. Jake Garcia, Gio Ruggiero, and Chandler Smith rounded out the top-10.

Cleetus McFarland and Travis Pastrana both qualified their Niece Motorsports entries into the show for Friday, and will start in 12th and 13th, respectively.

Three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart was the fastest of the five RAM entries for Kaulig Racing in qualifying, and will start the No. 25 RAM 1500 in 15th-place.

Justin Haley (16th), Brenden Queen (22nd), Daniel Dye (31st), and Mini Tyrrell (37th) will also start Friday’s event. Tyrrell, who won the full-time ride via the RAM: Race For The Seat reality show, had to use the newly-created OEM Provisional to lock his No. 14 RAM 1500 into the event.

Bryan Dauzat (FDNY Racing), Timmy Hill (Hill Motorsports), Justin Carroll (Terry Carroll Motorsports), Tyler Tomassi (MBM Motorsports), Norm Benning (Norm Benning Racing), Toni Breidinger (Rackley WAR), and Greg Van Alst (Greg Van Alst Motorsports) were not able to qualify for the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.

The Fresh From Florida 250 at Daytona International Speedway will take place tonight (Friday, February 13) at 7:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 1, NASCAR Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
