18-year-old phenom Ty Gibbs, who scored the pole for Saturday’s Henry 180, recorded his first Xfinity Series DNF following a mechanical failure at Road America.

Gibbs was exiting turn 5 when he was unable to shift his car into another gear. His car slowly rolled up the hill before coming to rest just before turn 6.

The North Carolina driver self-diagnosed the problem as a transmission issue.

Gibbs was scored in the second position at the time of the failure.

His car was eventually pushed around the track and to the garage area, but the issue was unable to be fixed.

One of the most impressive drivers of the series in 2021, the part-time effort for Gibbs has seen two wins, and seven top-ten finishes in nine starts this year.
