The long dry-spell (sarcasm) for Ty Gibbs is over. After losing out on the last three ARCA Menards Series race wins, the 18-year old driver scored his sixth win of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season on Saturday night in the Shore Lunch 150 at Iowa Speedway.

For Gibbs, racing at Iowa mirrors art.

“You’re almost a painter here,” Gibbs said. “You’re just working the brush on a canvas. There’s so much room to work with. It’s a Phoenix (Raceway); it’s an Atlanta (Motor Speedway). There are so many different places to go (on the track). The top, the bottom — you’ve got everywhere. All of the bumps; so many characteristics to this place.”

Gibbs held off GMS Racing’s Daniel Dye, who was searching for his second-consecutive win.

Dye came up just 1.297-seconds shy of snagging that second-career win. Dye closed the gap from three seconds, to just over a second behind Gibbs in the closing laps, but Gibbs had exactly what he needed to score another win.

“Man, tonight was another really great run for our GMS guys with the Race to Stop Suicide Chevy. I about wrecked the car a couple times trying to reel in Ty (Gibbs),” Dye said. “The faith Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Beam had to bring me to this 21 GMS Racing Chevrolet and letting me live my dream, I’m so blessed and thankful. To be racing in front of all these fans, the sold-out backstretch packed with campers, and just this race track, in general, is so cool.”

Taylor Gray finished third behind Gibbs and Dye, while Corey Heim and Nick Sanchez rounded out the top-five finishers on the night.

Thad Moffitt, Jesse Love, Mason Diaz, Rajah Caruth and Bret Holmes capped off the top-10 on Saturday night.
