VIDEO: Marco Andretti’s Truck Loses….the Entire Rear End Housing???

One of the most bizarre incidents in recent memory occurred at the end of Saturday’s XPEL 225 at Circuit of the Americas. With two laps remaining in the event, Marco Andretti’s No. 04 Chevrolet lost the entire rear end housing from the truck in turn 11, sending it rolling across the track and into the grass. The incident brought out the caution, sending the race into a green white checkered finish.

The housing, which contained the axle, both rear tires, as well as numerous hoses and wires, came completely dislodged from the truck, sending the back end of Andretti’s truck briefly into the air and around. Having lost about half of the underside of his truck, Andretti climbed from his vehicle and retired from the event. The race was also briefly red flagged to allow officials to remove the housing and clean up debris from the racing line resulting from it rolling across the track.
