The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs fight is about to get much tougher for both Grant Enfinger and Ty Majeski, following a disastrous afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway.

On just the fourth lap of Friday’s Love’s RV Stop 225 at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, Grant Enfinger, the defending winner in the NASCAR Truck Series at Talladega, was leading the outside line in the draft when the No. 9 Champion Power Equipment-sponsored Chevrolet was tipped into the pack, collecting several others.

Daniel Hemric, driving the No. 19 Chevrolet for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, received a major shot to the right side door of his Gates Hydraulics machine and suffered some minor damage from the incident; however, of the three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoff drivers involved in the wreck, he likely suffered the least damage.

Defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ty Majeski also got a significant piece of the incident, making contact with Enfinger as the No. 9 spun down the racetrack, damaging the left-front headlight of the No. 98 Soda Sense Ford F-150, forcing his ThorSport Racing crew to make repairs on pit road.

Unfortunately for Grant Enfinger, who has advanced into the Championship 4 in each of the last two seasons (with two different organizations), his vehicle sustained the most damage out of those involved in the wreck, requiring the Fairhope, Alabama-native to bring his CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet to the garage, and retire from the event and finish 36th.

The incident was triggered by eliminated NASCAR Playoffs driver Chandler Smith, who gave a sketchy shove to Enfinger at the exit of the fourth corner, turning the 12-time NASCAR Truck Series race-winner in front of the pack, collecting several others, including Jake Garcia, Luke Fenhaus, Daniel Hemric, Tanner Gray, and Ty Majeski.

That unfortunately wasn’t the only wreck in the opening stages of Friday’s Love’s RV Stops 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, as a couple of laps after the restart, Chandler Smith delivered another difficult shove — this time to his Front Row Motorsports teammate, Layne Riggs.

Riggs, piloting the No. 34 Love’s RV Stop Ford F-150, was tipped down into the pack because of that push, and merged with the pack in the middle of Turn 1, miraculously only collecting Connor Mosack, driving the No. 81 Chevrolet Silverado RST for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing.

Luckily for Riggs, who started at the rear of the field due to unapproved adjustments prior to qualifying, he was lucky enough to sustain just minimal damage, allowing the Bahama, North Carolina-native to return to the racetrack and still have a shot to capture a victory at Talladega Superspeedway.

Of the eight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs drivers, four of them have been involved in a wreck of some sort, and there are still more than 60 laps remaining.
