Affarano Motorsports, which fields the No. 03 Chevrolet Silverado for Tim Viens was hoping to make their first start of the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series season Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, however, a post on the team’s Facebook page indicated that they will not race in the Baptist Health 200.

In the post, Affarano Motorsports said, “Once again I’m apologizing to my fans NASCAR will not let us run for 03 truck in Homestead Miami. They said it didn’t pass tech.”

Mike Affarano, the owner of the race team, responded to a Facebook message from TobyChristie.com about why the No. 03 Trump 2020 truck failed inspection.

Affarano said, “[NASCAR] said it was the splitter and no one down there had one and something with the seat mounting.”

A visibly frustrated Viens, posted a video to his personal Facebook account explaining what happened in inspection, and that he is more than likely going to move on from his Truck Series plans with Affarano Motorsports and instead partner with Mike Harmon Racing in the Xfinity Series, while also seeking a new team in the Truck Series.

The team was hoping to make the field for the season-opening NextEra Energy 250 at Daytona International Speedway, until their hauler ended up in a ditch on the way to the track. After the hauler arrived past the deadline to present their truck, the team was withdrawn for that race weekend.

The Affarano Motorsports team has made a total of eight NASCAR Truck Series events since 2014. The team has failed to finish in six of the eight starts they’ve made and the best finish in team history is 24th, which they’ve achieved twice.
