Spencer Boyd, who has experienced an up-and-down year in his first season as an owner/driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will continue to build on the foundation of Freedom Racing Enterprises’ maiden season as he’ll return to the seat of the No. 76 Chevrolet Silverado full-time in 2025.
According to a press release, the 29-year-old Boyd will have a new anchor primary sponsorship partner for the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season as Tohatsu, who served as the primary sponsor for Boyd earlier this year at Texas Motor Speedway, will increase its involvement heavily with the driver and team.
In addition to the sponsorship, the company which builds and distributes outboard motors, will be releasing a mini-documentary about Boyd in their “Tohatsu Presents” series on YouTube.
Boyd is grateful and proud of the partnership with Tohatsu.
“I am so grateful for the Tohatsu team getting behind us this year,” said Spencer Boyd. “They had never tried motorsports marketing before 2024 so to step up to an anchor partner means a lot for our one-year-old team. They are doing such innovative things with their products and are truly great people to work with. It makes me proud they chose me to help represent their globally trusted brand.”
The NASCAR fanbase is very outdoors-centric, which allowed the Tohatsu American Coporation to see the obvious benefits of going all-in with their partnership in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2025.
“We know NASCAR fans enjoy spending time outdoors and particularly in watersports,” Kuniharu Maki, Vice President of Tohatsu American Corporation said. “With how genuine Spencer is, we find his engagement with his fans extremely refreshing, and we share Spencer’s motivation for authenticity. Throughout the 100 years of Tohatsu’s history, we have always aimed to stay connected with our customers. If you call us – a real person answers the phone. We can’t wait to talk to more fans, and I am personally looking forward to getting back to the track!”
Through the opening 20 races of the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, Boyd has collected one top-five, and two top-10 finishes for the upstart Freedom Racing Enterprises team, including a season-best finish of fifth at Daytona International Speedway.
Boyd also collected top-20 finishes at Darlington Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, and while it’s been a tough season outside of those four races, Boyd and his team have done a good job of avoiding on-track chaos and preserving their equipment to fight another day.
Currently, Boyd sits 25th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings with three races remaining in the 2024 season.
The Freedom Racing Enterprises team was founded and announced in January 2024 in a press event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Center Theatre Room.
