Sammy Smith, a two-time winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, is set to partner with Spire Motorsports for his first start of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign at Rockingham Speedway.

A native of Johnston, Iowa, Smith will get behind the wheel of the No. 07 Gainbridge Chevrolet Silverado RST at the iconic racetrack located in Rockingham, North Carolina.

The 20-year-old driver is set to join NASCAR Cup Series drivers Justin Haley, Michael McDowell, Kyle Larson, William Byron, and Kyle Busch, as the pilots of the newly-formed No. 07 entry for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Truck Series.

Smith currently competes on a full-time basis in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where he drives the No. 8 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports. In 83 starts in the second-tier series, Smith has two wins, 15 top-fives, and 37 top-10s.

Last season, Smith joined forces with Spire Motorsports to compete in four NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events, and partnered with Brian Pattie as the driver of the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado RST earned one top-five and three top-10 finishes.

Next weekend’s Easter Weekend contests at Rockingham Speedway will mark the first appearance at the iconic racetrack for NASCAR since 2013, when Kyle Larson won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the once-revived track.

In January, Smith was part of a multi-day organizational test for NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams at Rockingham Speedway, where he drove the No. 07 Chevrolet in the test.

Joining Smith as part of the Spire Motorsports lineup for the notable event include Hendrick Motorsports development driver Corey Day, and Spire Motorsports full-timers Rajah Caruth, and Andres Perez de Lara.

The Black’s Tire 200 at Rockingham Speedway will take place on Friday, April 18 at 5:00 PM ET on FS1, NASCAR Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
