Halmar Friesen Racing (HFR) has tapped Kaden Honeycutt as the interim driver for the No. 52 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, beginning with next weekend’s event at Richmond Raceway.

Honeycutt will be filling in for Stewart Friesen, who sustained major injuries during a Super DIRTcar Series event at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec on Monday, July 28.

“While I continue to recover, it was important for us to put someone in our truck that can help us compete at the highest level,” said Friesen. “I know Kaden will deliver strong performance in our truck and allow us to continue to run for the owner’s championship.”

The Willow Park, Texas-native joins Halmar Friesen Racing after running the first 16 events of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign for Niece Motorsports, collecting four top-fives and nine top-10s.

Honeycutt was released from the organization on Monday (August 4), after the 22-year-old driver informed the organization that he would be switching teams at the end of the season.

“It’s an honor to be able to fill in for Stewart for the rest of the season and help give his team a chance at the owner’s championship, which they earned. I’m excited to compete in contending, race-winning equipment as I pursue a title this season,” said Honeycutt. “We are going to work hard to have a solid final eight races of the season and continue to deliver great results for Stewart, his family, and this organization.”

This move is beneficial for both parties, as it allows Honeycutt to maintain his spot in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs, while also letting the Halmar Friesen Racing team compete for the Owner’s Playoffs.

For this weekend’s event at Watkins Glen International, Christopher Bell will drive the No. 52 Halmar International Toyota Tundra for Halmar Friesen Racing, as he runs double-duty at the 2.45-mile road course in New York.

Honeycutt is still searching for his first win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and will look to start things off with a bang at Richmond Raceway.
