Derek White, one of the founding members of MBM Motorsports, will be returning to the organization for Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Watkins Glen International, the team confirmed in a press release on Monday.
The 54-year-old driver will get behind the wheel of the No. 69 Ford F-150 for the 72-lap event at the 2.45-mile road course in Watkins Glen, New York. The Mission 176 will mark the second start for White in 2025, after returning to NASCAR National Series competition for the first time in nearly a decade.
“I am so proud to have Derek [White] in our No. 69 truck. Derek loves to represent his Mohawk heritage, and the design on the truck represents it well,” said Carl Long, owner of MBM Motorsports. “We have had some strong races on road courses with Derek in the past. I’m looking forward to knocking the rust off his road racing skills. His home is a few hours north on the Kahnawake reserve near Montreal, so we expect lots of friends to come out to the track to watch in person.”
White will carry the Mohawk Warrior Society flag on the hood of the No. 69 at Watkins Glen, much like he did in his first start of the season at North Wilkesboro (with Reaume Brothers Racing). O.C.R. Gaz Bar, a gas station on the Kahnawake reservation, will cover the quarter panels of the vehicle.
Throughout his seven starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, White has secured a career-best finish of 21st, which came at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP) in Bowmanville, Ontario, in 2013, while driving for Bobby Dotter and SS-GreenLight Racing.
White has also been behind the wheel of a NASCAR Xfinity Series entry 22 times throughout his career, notching a best finish of 18th in his series debut at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, driving the No. 24 for SR2 Motorsports.
The First Nations Mohawk from Kahnawake, Quebec, will tackle the twists and turns of Watkins Glen International (in Watkins Glen, New York) on Friday, August 8, with the Mission 176 beginning at 5:00 pm ET on FS1. NASCAR Radio Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90 will have radio coverage of the event.
