NASCAR announced the reinstatement of veteran crew chief Eddie Troconis on Friday. Troconis had been on suspension since October 6th following an altercation at Talladega Superspeedway on October 1st.
The section of the rulebook that Troconis was found to be in violation of was section 12.8.1.c, which pertains to member-to-member confrontation(s) with physical violence and other violent manifestations such as significant threat(s) and/or abuse and/or endangerment.
Troconis, who has two-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series wins as a crew chief, is now eligible to return to crew chief or other duties on NASCAR race teams.
Following the initial incident, which led to Troconis’ suspension, a warrant was issued for his arrest on second degree assault charges on December 21st, Troconis turned himself in to the Talladega County Sheiff’s Deputies Office on Wednesday, January 5th.
The Talladega County Sheriff Department confirmed to TobyChristie.com that the party that had pressed charges on Troconis was veteran NASCAR spotter Clayton Hughes.
Troconis, 42, was released on $7,500 bond.
In February, the assault charges against Troconis were officially dropped by the District Attorney.
In 2021, Troconis served as the crew chief for the No. 02 Young’s Motorsports team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 14 races as well as the crew chief for DGM Racing’s NASCAR Xfinity Series operation for 17 races.
