Corey Heim, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point leader, will not run this weekend’s Toyota 200 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway due to illness.

Heim’s TRICON Garage race team made the announcement via a statement on Friday.

Jesse Love, who was originally scheduled to pilot the No. 1 TRICON Garage Toyota Tundra this weekend, will slide over to the No. 11 in place of Heim. Toni Breidinger, who finished 15th in her NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Kansas Speedway, will drive the No. 1 entry.

According to the statement from TRICON Garage, the team will work with NASCAR on seeking a medical waiver so that Heim can retain playoff eligibility.

There was no indication given from the team on what type of illness is ailing Heim.

The 20-year-old Heim won two races a season ago while running a part-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Through the opening 11 races of the 2023 season, Heim has a win, which came at Martinsville Speedway, and he has recorded four top-five finishes and nine top-10s.

Heading into this weekend, Heim holds a 26 point lead over Ty Majeski for the championship point lead.
