For the first time since last November’s NASCAR Championship Weekend at Phoenix Raceway, Conner Jones is making his return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
The 19-year-old driver will be competing in Saturday’s Window World 250 at North Wilkesboro Speedway, partnering with Niece Motorsports to drive the No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado RST, with sponsorship coming from Niece Equipment.
According to the organization’s pre-race advance for Saturday’s event, Jones has been signed on to drive the No. 44 Chevrolet in “select NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events beginning this weekend at North Wilkesboro Speedway.”

The Fredericksburg, Virginia-native has been competing on a part-time basis in the NASCAR Truck Series for the last two seasons, contesting 22 starts in the No. 66 Ford F-150, a fifth entry for ThorSport Racing.
In competing for the Sandusky, Ohio-based team, Jones has recorded four top-15 results, including a career-best 11th-place in last May’s event at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Memorial Day Weekend.
“I’m very thankful to come on board with Niece Motorsports this year and be a part of everything they’ve got going on,” said Jones. “My goals are pretty big here; I hope to run inside the top-10 at these tracks. I’ve struggled in the Truck Series in the past, and I’ve had some struggles, but I’ve worked through them.
“My main goal is to run well consistently, and I think we can accomplish that. Having Wally (Rogers) in my corner to lean on, along with Kaden (Honeycutt) and Matt (Mills) for advice is definitely going to help.”
Jones has competed in both of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events that have taken place at North Wilkesboro Speedway, but has run into issues in both seasons, qualifying 30th in both, and recording DNFs, one because of an electrical issue, and another as a result of a crash.
“I think first of all, I need to be better on pit road than what I have been in the past,” Jones said about transitioning his success at Wilkesboro in a Late Model to a Truck. “I need to get in and get out of there quicker. Track position is key in these races, so once I get that part nailed down, it should help us out a lot. Other than that, I just need to stay focused all race long and keep the hunt going.”
In addition to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at North Wilkesboro, Jones will also run in events for the CARS Late Model Stock Cars, CARS Pro Late Models, and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
Niece Motorsports has yet to announce Jones’ full schedule of events. The No. 44 truck has been shared between Bayley Currey and Ross Chastain this season, after the originally announced full-time driver, Christian Rose, had to back out due to sponsorship issues.
