It has been a bizarre 2020 NASCAR season, already. With a frightening finish to the Daytona 500 and now postponements for the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic, its been nearly unbelievable. Monday, the latest news bomb came from GMS Racing.

The team, which fields trucks for Brett Moffitt full-time in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, revealed that Moffitt is recovering from surgery following an accident on a motocross bike that occurred on Saturday, which resulted in Moffitt fracturing both of his legs.

According to a statement from the team, Moffitt faces six to eight weeks of recovery from his surgery.

NASCAR has already postponed the races at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend and the races that were scheduled for this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and they are expected to announce more postponements. When NASCAR returns could dictate whether this injury will alter Moffitt’s season at all.

Moffitt, the 2018 NGROTS champion, has 11-career wins in his Truck Series career. Moffitt won four races last season en route to a third-place finish in the year end championship standings.

Moffitt, currently, sits fourth in the 2020 NASCAR Truck Series point standings.
