It has been an incredible season for Tony Stewart on the dirt. Thursday night, Stewart took home his eighth race victory of the 2019 season. This win came at his hometown track in Rushville, Indiana during the Rushville County Fair in the UMRA King of the TW Midget Race.
This track was also the site of Stewart’s first-ever race win back in 1989, which launched the career that Stewart has built over the last 30 years.
Stewart won the third heat race from the third starting spot to secure himself a place in the main feature.
Stewart then started from the pole in the 20-lap feature race and he would go on to win the event.
According to Stewart’s website, the three-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion, who is the co-owner of the Stewart-Haas Racing team in NASCAR, has now competed in 36 races this season on the dirt.
That would put Stewart’s winning percentage in 2019 at right around 23-percent. Not too shabby for a retired NASCAR championship driver.
